Sell-out classes will see dogs of all shapes and sizes competing for top accolades in the fun event which will help raise the profile of the group while raising valuable funds for the Animal Rescue Centre in Arbroath.

Organiser Emma Millar of Dog Friendly Angus and Dundee said tickets for the event had been snapped up in only two weeks.

There will be two sessions on Sunday November 3 at the Flower Pavilion in Montrose.

She said: “Dog Friendly Angus and Dundee was initially set up as Dog Friendly Angus in August 2018 with the expansion in February 2019 to include Dundee.

“It is managed by a small group of local business owners who work with the Angus Tourism Cooperative and a few dog enthusiasts.

“We work to promote Angus and Dundee as dog-friendly destination, work with local businesses on how to be dog friendly and run dog friendly events in the area as well as our monthly group dog walks.

“Our Facebook group now has over 3,500 members and growing. We are currently in the process of recruiting a new Ambassadog for the area.”

The group is also putting together a guide of dog-friendly businesses in the area.

Emma, 30, a teacher at Northmuir Nursery in Kirriemuir, said the group was working hard to put Angus businesses and venues on the dog friendly map to highlight the valuable contribution they make to the local economy.

She continued: “We are bringing dog lovers under one umbrella.

“Angus is quite poor for dog friendliness.

“In just a year we have got so many businesses on board – so many businesses now realise the importance of the ‘pooch pound’.”

Emma said ‘Dogwarts’ was designed to be a bit of fun for dog owners who are invited to dress up their pets in Harry Potter themed costumes.
